  1. To go on strike means that the employees are refusing to work or are not working.
  2. A strike would occur for many different reasons. One reason being that they employee and employers do not agree on something like a raise in pay or how many days an employee is allowed to take off. A strike is also to show the employer that the employees will not work again till their needs are met, or until an agreement is reached.
  3. A lockout is when the employer stops work by closing the workplace or by suspending employees.
  4. A lockout would happen when an employer is concerned by what the employees are doing, like in health and saftey. This could also happen because they do not agree with what the employees want, do, and say.
  5. The legislation can force Air Canada and Canada Post workers back to work if they did not follow the procedure necessary for the strike and lockout to be legal. They can also force them back to work because, they are serves that are considered an essential part to Canada and their society, and when they close down they cause a very large negative downfall to everyone in Canadian society.
  6. Air Canada's workers went on strike because, they wanted money back they gave to the company to stop them from going bankrupt. This strike also happened because of pension reform, low wages, working too many night shifts, and not getting pay for working overtime.
  7. Canada Post workers went on strike because, they companies wanted lower wages, and less vacation benefits and the employees would not stand for that.
