Yes, my father in fact, he owns his own finish company and I believe he was cutting a moulding and wasn't paying enough attention as his thumb was caught in the saw blade, it was not cut off but much of the skin covering his thumb was barely hanging on and he recieved many stitches after being hospitalized. He fully recovered thankfully. They can all be prevented by simply putting measures in place that articulate towards those specific things. Things like making sure that employees pay very careful attention to what they are doing, especially when it's an obviously hazardous task. Employers need to to properly train all employees thouroughly enough in the workplace for them to work with confidence even in potentially dangerous situations. Use common sense, if an employee is ever unsure about doing something that they think may possibly be detrimental to their well-being they should ask a supervisor for assisstance. Work ethic is important to as well, if employees are there to socialize with one another, that can often lead to a lack of attention to their work environment that could potentially lead to a dangerous situation.
