A union is a group, or organization of employees which is created to increase the employees' working conditions,benefits, and wages.
Advantages:
- More flexible job hours available
- Increased job security
- Higher employee wages
- Better job protection
- Health care benefits
Disadvantages:
- There is possibility of a strike
- Employees lose individual rights (everyone's a whole)
- Employees that have worked in unions longer get certain advantages, such as first choices for jobs and for schedule/vacations
- Competition between coworkers
- Having to pay union dues no matter what
