A union, in this context, is a group of workers who come together to make decions for the benefit of the workers in their workplace.
Advantages:
-pension given
-higher wages
-seniority decided by employees who have been there the longest
-makes for a safe workplace
-everyone has a say in decision making
Disadvantages:
-if workers go on strike, you must as well
-laziness can develop
-certain rules or regulations can be made you disagree with (majority rules)
-you cannot negotiate for raises because they are fixed in a contract
-unions can inhibit competition
