Introduction

In this lesson, we will explore molecules that are often attributed to the pleasant smell in many substances, including raspberries.  Ketones also occur naturally in your body as the liver breaks down fatty acids and is an indicator to test for diabetes. 

This lesson builds on what you have already learned in the first Organic Chemistry module and introduces functional groups that will be used throughout the second Organic Chemistry module, especially in the next lesson on Carboxylic Acids.
