      Welcome to Robotics!  This first week is about exploring your equipment and learning the routines of the class.  Grade 7/8 will be using Lego Mindstorms.  Grade 9s will be working with Raspberry Pi and with Vex Robotics.

      Grade 7-8 - Your job this week is to build a robot out of lego.  Find ways to attach the motors to your robot.  Can you make your robot move?

      Grade 9 - Assemble the Raspberry Pi and connect it to the Internet.

      Grade 7-8

      Now that you have your first robot, your job is to move it FIVE revolutions forward. You will program it with the NXT software, compile it, and download it to your robot. When it works, please video your robot moving and then video your screen so that we can see the code that you used. Make sure that you explain how the code works in the video. EACH MEMBER uploads the video when you have finished.

      Grade 9

      Your VEX Robots have been ordered!  They should arrive by the time we head out for Christmas break and be available for you in January.  Therefore, you have 2 more weeks left of the Pi.  

      This week:

      • install an Office Suite.  Make sure that you can type up information and save it.
      • Find out what the "breadboard is used for".  Demonstrate a usage for it.
